Cast Iron Column Radiators
First produced around 1905, Edwardian Column Radiators lend themselves to producing higher heat output than their Victorian cousins. The main reason for this is the increase in surface area in the column design; more surface area = more btu output. One property of Cast Iron is that it can take slightly longer to heat up than, say, a conventional white panel radiator, on the flipside they take a lot longer to cool down meaning that they act as a source of heat long after the central heating is switched off. Used correctly they can save you money on your heating bills.
As an aside all cast iron radiators shown on this website have been successfully used in conjunction with Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pumps.
